Ste Genevieve Project Pioneer

How do we honor the families?

  • Gather information and pictures from the families and create a family history book, which we sell at the Jour-de-fete.
  • Present the honored families at the opening ceremonies of Jour-de-fete and host a reception during the Saturday of        Jour-de-fete.
  • Give attendance prizes, for oldest man and woman, and most miles traveled to attend.

Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneer was started in 1989 by Lucille Basler in conjunction with the Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce. In 2001 we became a non-profit organization of our own. In our over thirty year history we have honored over sixty families of French, German and African-American and even English heritage.

Monies raised from the sale of the family history books go to support genealogy programs in the local schools and the local library.

Members of the organization are individuals that enjoy history and genealogy. Anyone interested in joining the group may do so  by coming to a meeting. There are no dues charges for being a member.
